FRANCIS'S BLOG 04/21/2026
I suppose we should be grateful this is all they tore down (especially on a -2℉ morning).
“What blanket-that-you-were-sure-we-couldn’t-reach?”
In the interest of equine equability, the hoodlum probably wasn’t RC, and may not even have been the lightning-lipped Chezzie, but you can bet your braided tail they stood around and watched.
A little more Tux and Schroeder:
I promise we’ll have something different tomorrow, but here’s a video of Schrödinger having words with Tux (who could not have cared less). It’s not that great a video, but the expression on Schroeder’s face is intense:
It’s im-possum-ble! (Chapter 2)
Possums are supposed to be nocturnal, but our resident marsupial thinks nothing of sashaying between the hay barn and the chicken coop no matter where the sun is or the dog is (it came down the hay barn steps two feet behind Uki today). This picture was taken in the chicken coop (no flash required):
Stormy’s first night without his blanket.
Hope it stays on the warm side of 30 tonight. See how clean he looks? That won’t last! 😊
We got another 6” today. Please let this be the last snow of the season. . .
. . .but I doubt it. 🐴(Neat, huh?—I’m in the Mac special character set!)
Happy Birthday Ann! ♥️
Monday is Ann’s birthday! In celebration, I am giving free rides to all the kitties! So far, Luigi is the only taker (it requires a very patient cat):
Valentine’s Day must effect cat brains:
Tux was allowed to eat breakfast this morning in the garage (albeit only at the very edge)—without undue mooing or braying from Luigi and Schroeder.
Kanna impersonates gatekeeper at Emerald City:
Oh, we forgot—this is Valentine’s day. Sorry. Here you go:
Coldest day of the year, -18℉ (brrrrrr!!!!!!)
Charlie is emblematic of all of us this morning: icicles on every whisker, lash and hair; and ice cubes in our nostrils!
Oh Iris, you are so lucky you’re at school!
Here are the rest of the Iris pics (sent with love by Mary)!
Here is Iris, looking fetching (how else?) in her blanket:
We’ve all seen blankets before, so here Iris surprises us in a cooler: a special blanket that keeps her warm and dry while she sweats.
Oh, and here is Elwood, playing dead (he’s in drama class 😏):
Yippie! News from Iris! 😛
Here’s Iris in class, sporting her très chic and muy femenina leg wraps:
But-HORRORS!-Iris is facing scandal! She is suspected of maliciously and surreptitiously removing Elwood’s cribbing collar and dumping her water bucket all over her stall. The latter she admits as an easy way to annoy Mary-but pull off Elwood’s cribbing collar? Heck no, not even if he asked her twice!
Here we see Elwood, cribbing collar in place, defending his stall-neighbor and main squeeze:
You will notice by his tongue he is giving any and all of Iris’s detractors the royal raspberry! (stay tuned tomorrow for even more pics 😛)
Henry has breakfast hay on a chilly day!
This picture was taken this past Wednesday, just after the big snow.
Security Alert.
We always keep a lookout for any activity near the borders of AHF. Here Charlie and Misty make sure the road crew just go about their business, then move on:
Caterwauling
Normally we only hear Schrödinger and Luigi “exchanging words.” But this evening Kanna (aka Pretty Cat) apparently decided the stable was hers for the evening, and Schroeder had better hoof it to the hay barn.
