What’s on the menu this morning? Why, it’s “chicken surprise!” 🐓

This morning we discovered two orphans in the front pasture.

They must have belonged to someone because they had their spurs removed, and were not at all shy.

Here they are hiding from our own roosters, who were little banty meanies and chased them all over the farm.

They were very tame, and didn’t so much as cluck when they were carried to the hen pen.

They’re so pretty and well-mannered we hope no one claims them.

Mary says they are Lakenvelder chickens.

Iris would like to point out that the roosters are hogging her breakfast!

“Look at them! What if I get bird flu?” 🐎

“Just because we’re birds does not mean we have bird flu, Iris—That sentiment is anti-chicken! And furthermore, if you’d get into your stall when you’re supposed to, we wouldn’t have time to go near your food.” 🐓

The mighty Leopold (but you can call him Pooter) attacks Farmer Rich’s dog, Bear, when Bear got too close to his sisters, Paschal and L’Orange.Luckily for Pooter, Bear is a nice doggie with a high tolerance for foolish fowl.
