FRANCIS'S BLOG 04/22/2026

Stormy’s Halloween Costume is a hit!

What a fantastic outfitting of both horse and stall!  stormy is an armored unicorn!  way to go, mary!

More Spooky Halloween Happenings!

Lots of Spooky happenings today!  First, we present a pair of satanic sour-pusses.  luigi and pumpkin are staring daggers because they were not served breakfast until Schrödinger was captured and taken to the "you-know-where" to be "you-know-whatted” - Horrifying! (for Schroeder, at least)

next, we have a terrifying case of halloween vandalism!  A Hoodlum from heck tore down one of our gates and committed atrocities in the stall!  here I am pointing out the sacrilege:

No one saw the manure-making monster except chavez, who received a wound from its terrible claw (which he could not possibly have gotten by wrecking things up himself):

Nice morning.

It was 53 degrees this morning at breakfast time.  No huddling in the barn for us today!

Schroeder was out and about with us this morning, too:

England pic 5!

Here I am taking “the tube” to Paddington Station, where I caught a train to Windsor Castle.

England pic 4!

Spooky Halloween sculpture of a dog at the foot of the tomb effigy of William Courtenay, Archbishop of Canterbury (1342-1396).  Dogs connote loyalty (yeah, right).

England pics 2-3!

BwaaaHaaHaa! - the mummified cats at the British Museum were hee-LARious!!!!

And here was a cute donkey piñata!  Oh, wait a minute - OH MY GOSH! - THIS IS AN ABOMINATION!!!!!

England pic 1!

Here is a sculpture of Iris diving her big gob into my food pan, although what it’s doing in London I have no idea.

Tux redux.

Tux is back, of all people.  Here he is getting his picture taken last night in the stable (and not looking happy about having his nap interrupted).  We hope our new kitty Schrödinger stays clear of him - especially since he recently hurt his left hind leg.  Schroeder looks a lot like our dearly-departed Scout, and Scout and Tux got into some awful, fur-flinging fights!

Lilo says,

Please, just wake me when it’s spring again.

Iris performs

Mary and Iris show off their talents last Sunday.

Cozy kitties.

It's snowing this morning and about 32.  Pumpkin and Kanna are having their "después del desayuno" nap on the hay, while Zelda snuggles in a new pillow-bed.

Cat Box

A cat's box is his castle -

- so no room for you, Schroeder.

I'm back.

Watch for some of the 1,275 pictures I took during my wonderful trip to England!

Be back October 20th. I'm going on vacation (yes, again).

Bat-check (yes, again).

I don't like to post non-current photos, but I've been busy getting ready for my vacation.  So, I ran across this picture taken July 19, when we were visited by long eared bats.  Notice their - well, their long ears!

Bat-check, Oct 9th.

They haven't been chilled-out yet!

Video of us in the pasture last Saturday.

Under the hay barn is a great place to get out of the weather.

Big delivery.

We have hay to the rafters!  This should last us well into the winter (and give the cats a warm place to sleep).

Schroeder is in terrible pain!

Schroeder writhes in agony. . .

. . .at the sight of someone in sandals with socks.  What a fashion faux pas!

Kanna asked me, . . .

. . . "Does my fur make me look fat?"

KannaFat1

Yes, it does.

Wow, it was 70 at 8AM. It's raining off and on, so as you can see we were sent out without our fly masks (although we did get a good soak with some nice citronella-scented spray). We hope the flies keep their distance, because we always enjoy going out without the masks: It makes it easier for us to give each other dirty looks!

The lights are on for breakfast in Cell Block H (teehee).

Misty and Stormy investigate nighttime vandalism!

In news besides Luigi's condition, Misty's stall door was left open last night.  Therefore, of course, hoodlums hurled her feed bin on the ground, unhinged her feed door, and made a poopie.  Here you can see Misty and Charlie investigating the crime scene.  The only thing these sleuths can tell you is that I have been eliminated (teehee) as the maker of the manure for obvious reasons.

Luigi looks better this morning.

We brushed the dirt out of his hair last night.  This morning he's much friendlier.
