Here’s a pudgy young swallow fresh from the nest. One of dozens getting ready for the long migration to South America:
If you look at the left and right bottom of the next picture, you’ll see one of the grown swallows making sure Luigi keeps his distance from this and all the other babies perched on the fence like "low hanging fruit”:

This morning Stormy insisted on inspecting the manure cart:

”It’s all ours. No cat. Carry on."

When Luigi gets to be a bit much, Schroeder can be found enjoying the quiet under the salt rack:

Minnie jumped the fence this morning (she was lucky she didn’t get hung up in the bird netting that serves as a roof). As you can see, the chicks are not very happy. They’ve become too big to pop out of the chicken wire and follow Mom:

Another chick was discovered this morning under Minnie, who is being a good mother to her two new babies:
As you can see, the new chick is black, too. We read that when Lakenvelder roosters breed with white hens, the chicks will be black. One more egg to go.
